Immersive Learning Environments assisted by AI-generated Avatars
📅 Tuesday 19/05 10:30-12:00h
📍 Workshop Space A
🔎 Needs Analysis
The workshop aims to evaluate an AI-generated avatar-assisted immersive learning environment (ILE) framework for effective learning. Our framework will be presented and feedback received from participants will be integrated. The workshop will give the participants the opportunity to understand the dimensions of ILEs (e.g., technology, feedback, learning theories) and potentially develop new components for online learning that are supported by AI-generated avatars. The purpose of enhancing online learning experiences with AI avatar-assisted ILEs makes this topic a TEL fit. We therefore formulated the following research questions for our workshop:
1) What are the most prominent ILE components in online learning that are supported by AI-generated avatars, ranked by TEL experts?
2) How can the ILE framework and dimensions be improved and extended according to TEL experts?
3) What are additional use cases that can be created using the ILE framework, suggested by TEL experts?
📒 Session Description
Introduction (30 mins)
– Present dimensions and components of ILE assisted by AI-generated Avatars (15 mins)
– Show (if ready) the current state of an example learning case using the ILE-based AI-generated Avatars (15 mins)
Activity 1 – Co-design 1 (20 mins)
– Participants provide feedback on the current state of the demo app. Additional components can be included in the framework and technology (Questionnaire)
Activity 2 – Co-design 2 (20 mins)
– Participants develop their own use case using the ILE framework and technology
Participant Presentations (20 mins)
– Every group/participant presents their own use case using the framework and technology and their new component ideas. (Presentation)
💡 Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understanding the role of ILEs (e.g., immersive technologies, sensors), assisted by generative AI avatars, in online education
- Usage of ILE technologies and feedback components to provide meaningful and effective learning for various online learning cases (e.g., presentation training, etc)
- The inclusion of learning theories to tailor the corresponding learning dimension (e.g., cognitive, affective, psychomotor) needs within ILEs
- Scenario design and evaluation framework within ILEs
