ECTEL 2024

We are pleased to share that EC-TEL 2024 was a successful event. Despite the challenges posed by the flooding in Lower Austria, most participants were able to reach Krems, demonstrating their dedication to advancing research in Technology-Enhanced Learning. The conference facilitated engaging discussions and valuable interactions among researchers, contributing to a rich exchange of ideas. Thank you to the participants and everyone who played a role in making this event possible. We look forward to continuing these important conversations in the future!

Due to the extreme weather situation and the intense rainfall in the last two days, all of the Lower Austria region has been declared a disaster area. The flooding is now disrupting train and road traffic, and trains between Linz and Vienna have been cancelled. Similarly, getting from Vienna to St. Pölten is currently not possible.

The situation in the city of Krems itself is currently under control and stable. There is no flooding and the campus is accessible. However, due to the flooding of smaller rivers around Krems, many of our staff are not able to get to campus either.

Due to this situation, and in close cooperation with the university management and the EATEL president, we have decided it would be better to move the first two days of the conference to an online mode. We know this is a very unfortunate situation especially for the workshops and doctoral consortium as you planned some very interactive sessions. At the same time, we feel it is not responsible as hosts to urge you to come to Krems in the next two days.

We are determined to resume the conference program on site by Wednesday with the main conference. We are also considering to offer an informal gathering on Tuesday evening for those who arrived in Krems. However, we will need to give another update by Monday evening, as the situation is very dynamic.
