Danube River Cruise and Wine Tasting

Wednesday, 18th September

(places will be limited – register as soon as possible!)

On Wednesday, we will go on a Danube River Cruise with MS Mariandl, a historic charter ship built in 1954. The ship will take us to the small town of Weißenkirchen, which is located in the middle of the Wachau and is one of the 12 world heritage sites in Austria. We will discover the picturesque Wachau landscape from aboard and enjoy delicious wines from the Wachau Valley and finger food. The charter ship offers space for up to 100 people – tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis within your conference registration.

Gala dinner

Thursday, 19th September

The gala dinner will take place at Göttweig Abbey (“Stift Göttweig”), which towers majestically at 422 metres above sea level on the eastern edge of the world-famous Danube valley in the Wachau. A World Heritage Site since 2000, today it is not only a magnet for visitors from all around the world, but also a spiritual centre in the heart of Lower Austria, supported by a community of 41 monks. The Göttweig Abbey Restaurant (“Stiftsrestaurant Göttweig”) serves regional specialities and wines from the abbey’s own vineyards. The observation terrace offers a unique panoramic view of the Danube Valley and the Wachau.. The abbey is located 15 minutes by shuttle bus from Krems.
