This workshop is designed for PhD students and researchers looking to enhance their academic workflow using AI-powered research tools. The session will introduce participants to state-of-the-art AI tools that can optimize literature reviews, data collection and analysis, academic writing, and visualization. Participants will gain hands-on experience with AI tools that can significantly improve research efficiency and output quality.

📒 Session Description

This workshop is a hands-on, end-to-end walkthrough of how AI can support the research lifecycle from discovering and synthesizing literature, to collecting/analyzing data, to writing and publishing, and finally to visualizing and presenting findings. We combine short, practical explanations with live demos and guided practice, emphasizing AI as a research co-pilot (not a replacement) and responsible use (verification, transparency, and academic integrity). We work in a “demo → do → share” rhythm: one of us demonstrates each step live while the other supports participants, answers questions, & troubleshoots tools and prompts in real time. Participants will complete a rapid Literature Sprint to build a targeted reading set, try quick exercises for quantitative or qualitative analysis support, and take part in an “Edit your abstract” activity using academic writing tools. Along the way, we facilitate discussion around key questions such as what should remain human-led, how to validate AI.
