Capturing Reality: Exploring 3D Scanning Techniques for Immersive Learning

Thursday 15/05 14:00-15:30h
Workshop Space B
Session Description

3D scanning plays a crucial role in creating interactive and immersive digital content, yet many educators and professionals are unfamiliar with its techniques and applications. This workshop bridges that gap by introducing different 3D scanning methods, their use cases, and common file formats. In Technology-Enhanced Learning, 3D scanning may enhance interactive learning, virtual simulations, and digital content creation by bringing digital twins of real-world objects into virtual learning environments. With that, it may enable richer educational experiences. However, many struggle with selecting the right method or processing scanned models for educational use. This workshop provides hands-on experience, allowing participants to scan objects themselves, understand the strengths and limitations of different techniques, and explore how 3D scanning may improve digital learning environments. By making 3D content creation more accessible, it empowers participants to explore the possibilities
