Abstract
In this workshop, participants will learn the main points needed to write academic papers. We will go deep and discuss the purpose for writing academic papers, the purpose of citing research, and the purpose of each section of a paper because once the purpose is clear the path to writing a paper starts to get paved. We then will look at how to write each of the sections of a paper including some tips to facilitate this process. We will also discuss some good practices and attitudes when writing an academic paper.
Needs Analysis
As academics we have the job of conducting research and publishing our results. To publish our results we need to write academic papers. This process is usually a struggle for many of us, especially for new PhD students. Most courses on academic writing focus on the grammar and use of the English language, in this workshop we will focus more on the content and how to communicate it effectively in written text.
