Short description:
The purpose of the workshop is to start a policy-oriented dialogue of how we envision the future of teaching with AI in schools, universities and training organisation with a specific focus on the role of teachers. The workshop will explore the potential impact of AI on future teaching tasks – their replacement, complementarity or augmentation – and what this will mean for teachers’ knowledge and skills and the teaching profession more broadly. The workshop will use different methods applying dialogue and foresight to discuss the latest research in the area, and to discuss what impact AI could have for the future of education, the teaching profession and the professional development of teachers.

Short description:
This workshop explores best practices for combining Generative AI with Learning Analytics Dashboards in education, aiming to strengthen the Learning Analytics feedback cycle within interactive LLM-driven dashboards. Participants will define requirements, design practices, and conceptual processes to improve the relationship between generative AI and the Learning Analytics feedback cycle, while reviewing and providing feedback on existing dashboards. The workshop builds on previous work and aims to create documentation for further dissemination and improvement.

We stand at a pivotal moment in human history, transitioning rapidly into a Hybrid Society where human and artificial agents are becoming inextricably linked in all aspects of life, work, and learning. The accelerated evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fundamentally reshaping our interactions, cognitive processes, and societal structures. This profound shift necessitates a proactive and critical examination of its implications for education.
We have a rapidly closing window of opportunity to consciously, democratically, and ethically steer this transformation. To do so, we urgently need a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and value-driven Blueprint for Education in a Hybrid Society. We invite scholars, practitioners, designers, and policymakers to contribute their insights, research, and critical perspectives on these dimensions and their interplay. Together, we will embark on the collaborative development of an initial outline for this vital blueprint, aiming to equip the educational community to navigate and shape the future of learning in a hybrid society.
4. WS301: Hack & Reflect: Critical Engagement with Locally Hosted Large Language Models in Higher Education (Hack & Reflect)

Short description:
This workshop invites participants to critically engage with locally hosted, open-source large language models (LLMs) designed for higher education environments. Combining hands-on exploration with structured ethical reflection, the session offers an opportunity to both test and evaluate a beta LLM-based chatbot developed for academic use.
Participants will split into two parallele groups: one will conduct a hands-on hacking session to probe the system’s weaknesses, biases, and vulnerabilities; the other will engage in structured ethical analysis using the Digital Ethics Canvas. Following these parallel sessions, the full group will reconvene for a plenary discussion to share findings and insights.

This half-day workshop explores how EdTech can empower everyday users to detect and counteract fake online engagement: fake reviews, inflated follower counts, and AI-generated profiles. Participants will engage in interactive discussions and collaborative co-design activities, creating prototypes of simple games and interactive tools that foster critical thinking and digital literacy. Suitable for newcomers and experts alike — no technical expertise required — this workshop invites up to 30 attendees to collaboratively explore innovative EdTech solutions designed to diminish the effectiveness of purchased disinformation, ultimately helping users recognise manipulation and reduce the influence of deceptive online practices.
