Anna Nicolaou is an English Language Instructor at the Language Centre of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). She is also the Deputy Coordinator of the Learning Developing Network of the CUT. She holds a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), focusing on Intercultural Education and Global Competence learning through Virtual Exchange, a Master’s degree in English Language Studies and Methods from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) and a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Greece). In her PhD thesis she focused on the development of intercultural competence and active citizenship through virtual exchanges between students in Higher Education. She has received the Jaclyn Ng Shi Ing Award for Best PhD-student Presentation at the XIXth International CALL Research Conference in July 2018. Her research interests include Intercultural Education, Global Competence, Active Citizenship, Virtual Exchange, Multilingualism, and Computer-Assisted Language Learning. She has published scientific articles in internationally acclaimed journals and has participated in academic conferences. She is currently participating in various research projects, such as VALIANT, DE-TEL, DC4LT and EUt+.
