The Area of Zadar, Croatia
The JTELSS 2027 will take place in Zadar, Croatia, a historic coastal city located in the heart of the Croatian Adriatic. With more than two millennia of history, the city combines Roman and medieval heritage with a lively Mediterranean atmosphere. Its compact Old Town is situated on a peninsula and is easily explored on foot, with ancient ruins, churches, narrow stone streets, cafés, restaurants, and a waterfront promenade all within a short distance.
Among Zadar’s best-known modern-time landmarks are the Sea Organ, an architectural installation that transforms the movement of the waves into sound, and the nearby Greeting to the Sun, a large solar-powered installation that creates a light display after sunset. Together with the Roman Forum, the Church of St. Donatus, and the city walls, they create a distinctive combination of ancient heritage and contemporary public space.
Zadar is also an excellent starting point for exploring northern Dalmatia’s natural attractions. The surrounding area provides access to Kornati, Paklenica and Krka national parks, the Zadar archipelago with around 300 islands, islets and reefs, and the nearby island of Pag connected to the mainland by a bridge. Beaches and coastal walking areas are easily accessible from the city, offering opportunities for swimming, sailing, hiking, and day trips during or after the summer school.
Venue Hotel
The summer school will be hosted at Hotel Kolovare, located directly by the sea and within walking distance of Zadar’s historic Old Town. Its location allows participants to combine the summer school programme with easy access to the beach, waterfront and city centre.
The hotel offers spacious and modern rooms, a main restaurant, an à la carte restaurant with a wine boutique, an aperitif bar, an outdoor swimming pool for adults and children, and a sports and recreation centre with tennis courts. The beach is immediately adjacent to the hotel, while the Old Town can be reached on foot in approximately 10-15 minutes.

Hotel Kolovare has several conference and meeting rooms that will be used for plenary sessions, workshops and smaller group activities.
Rooms are equipped with presentation and audiovisual facilities, including projectors, LCD screens, microphones, sound systems and flip charts.
