Bolzano
Bolzano is the capital of the bilingual (Italian-German) South Tyrol Province in Northern Italy – a place that uniquely links Austrian heritage with Italian style living, located in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites Mountains: http://www.suedtirol.info/en/
Since 2010, Bolzano has been ranked among the top 5 Italian cities for quality-of-life. Bolzano is steeped in history, being a centre of trade and commerce for thousands of years. The city is home of the famous Ötzi ice man, found in the Alpine mountains nearby and preserved at the the Museum of Archaeology. Bolzano has a beautiful shopping area under medieval arcades in the city center.
There are several promenades starting from the town and leading to the surrounding hills or following the three rivers for kilometers. The valley hosting Bolzano can be admired while going up the hill with any of the three cable cars starting from the town.

By car
Similarly, to the trains, Bolzano is well connected to Austria and the rest of Italy via the Italian A22 Freeway.
If coming from the South, we suggest to take the motorway exit “Bolzano Sud” and to park your car at the Fair (1300 lots). From there you find public busses to the center every 15 minutes or the train every 30 minutes.
If coming from the North, we suggest to take the motorway exit “Bolzano Nord” and to park at the parking “Bolzano Centro”, which is only a few minutes walking from the center.
Bolzano is divided into “colored zones” according to the different areas of the city. Street parking is only possible if the car has the correct colored parking permit, otherwise cars must be parked in one of the public car parks scattered across the city. Most of the city center is not accessible by car. Further information: http://www.comune.bolzano.it/context.jsp?ID_LINK=1911&area=19.
