SIG JTEL Doctoral Academy

The Doctoral Academy organises events and virtual networking opportunities which aim to introduce PhD students to the wider international community of researchers and professionals working in the disparate fields of research which contribute to advancing the state-of-the-art in Technology Enhanced Learning and provides opportunities for young researchers to develop leadership skills by taking on responsibilities for the organisation of these events. The most prominent events include:

Launched in 2005, the JTEL Summer School brings together each year 80 to 100 researchers, including about 50 PhD candidates, in a stimulating learning environment where participants get opportunities to: develop research skills; increase their knowledge base; collaborate with others in their own and complementary research areas; engage in debate; have access to experts in the field; and discuss their own work. The programme covers topics from a broad range of domains which contribute to advancing the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. TEL research projects are encouraged to provide doctoral candidates with a perspective of the state-of-the-art research under study in their working groups. The Doctoral Consortium has been a regular feature of the annual European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning since 2006. It offers PhD students working on topics related to Technology Enhanced Learning to present, discuss, and receive feedback on their research in an interdisciplinary and international atmosphere. Prominent professors and researchers in provide feedback to the selected papers and participate actively and contribute to the discussions.
