Katharina Dahmann, research associate at Goethe University, specializes in using learning analytics to provide automated feedback in collaborative-supported online learning environments. She focuses on collaborative writing scenarios, exploring various feedback options. Her goal is to enhance text quality and improve group dynamics in collaborative writing environments, leading to better learning outcomes for students. Through her research, Katharina seeks to understand how feedback options, group awareness, role behavior, and expected quality standards of texts interact to improve collaborative online writing.

PhD project: Collaborative writing is increasingly crucial, but tools that offer automated feedback to improve group dynamics and writing quality are limited. This PhD project aims to integrate social learning analytics into online collaborative writing in higher education. A mixed methods approach will be used, starting with a literature review and prototype development. A pilot test will refine the tool, followed by identifying emerging roles in the collaborative writing process. Feedback strategies will be designed based on these roles and user feedback. The final phase will focus on evaluating the long-term impact on student writing skills.
