Short-bio:
Aditya Joshi is a second year PhD student working under the supervision of Dr. Sergey Sosnovsky in the Software Technologies for Learning and Teaching group at Utrecht University. He worked in the industry in Software and ML Engineering roles after finishing his Masters from IIIT Hyderabad in Search and Information Extraction Lab, where his work was related to text classification, especially Sentiment Analysis in user generated and code mixed text. His research interests are related to Learning Analytics, especially focussing on adaptive systems and leveraging Social Comparison to help improve students’ engagement and motivation.

It focuses on its effects on students’ behavior, engagement, and performance on students from different demographics, with different psychological and motivation profiles. He will explore more adaptive approaches towards social comparison which adjust the direction and the magnitude of social comparison to suit students’ needs and preferences.
