Armin Weinberger is head and founder of the EduTech department at Saarland University. Formerly, he was Associate Professor at the Department of Instructional Technology, Faculty of Behavioral Sciences, University of Twente, the Netherlands. He was lecturer and research fellow at the University of Munich, the University of Tübingen, and the Knowledge Media Research Center, Germany. His main research interests are educational technology, technology-enhanced learning, computer-supported collaboration scripts, argumentative knowledge construction, cross-cultural education, knowledge convergence, and methodological issues in small group learning. His research interests are linked to analyzing and facilitating the generation, construction and sharing of knowledge in small groups of learners, working teams, and communities. He has developed multiple computer-supported collaboration scripts that orchestrate roles and activities of learners, facilitate specific interaction patterns, and enhance individual knowledge acquisition as well as knowledge convergence within a group. Armin has been collecting awards for top cited article in Learning and Instruction, Outstanding Journal Article in the Field of Instructional Design Division of Design and Development of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology 2005, for demos of learning software, for good teaching, and has been the most frequent author of the International Journal of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning 2010-2014. Armin has founded and coordinated the EARLI SIG Argumentation, Dialogue, and Reasoning, he was head of the CSCL committee of the ISLS 2018-2022, and is now in the Executive Committee of the EARLI.
