Exciting keynotes and three tracks are promising excellent exchange

Four keynotes are providing insights from different perspectives: Cathy Casserly, former CEO of Creative Commons, speaks about OER initiatives. Sir John Daniel and Stamenka Uvalic-Trumbic, both leading advocates for learning innovations with long-term experiences as UNESCO policy officers, address openness and quality for smart universities in the post-truth and post-trust era. Joseph Press, CEO of Center for Creative Leadership and adviser to the President of Switzerland, highlights the future challenges of learning in a digitalized work life. Finally Brian Magerko from the Georgia Tech, the leading Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA, speaks about the impact of digitalization on learning and society.

Three parallel tracks are offering unique opportunities to discover and discuss latest developments and experiences from research and practice. The first track “Academic” presents the selected scientific papers and projects, the second track deals with “Work-life learning” and the third track focuses “Entrepreneurship and Innovation”.

The World Learning Summit 2017 merges two international networks

The theme for the World Learning Summit 2017 is “SMART UNIVERSITIES”. WLS 2017 is the merger of the two leading conference networks WLS and LINQ with the ambition to create an exciting meeting space with international level speakers. The World Learning Summit (WLS) made its debut June 2016, based on six consecutive conferences in South Norway and in Silicon Valley. The International Conference on Learning Innovations and Quality (LINQ) has run its four prior conferences from various locations.

Courtesy of this new relation, WLS 2017 continues the scientific LINQ proceedings and provides full accreditation for scientific papers recognized and approved by the Norwegian authorities as level 1 publication. All papers were selected through double-blind peer review by the highly accomplished international Programme Committee. The proceedings will be printed on paper (with ISBN) and distributed to all summit participants as well as online under global open access license.

The World Learning Summit 2017 is co-organized by the University of Agder (Norway), the Norwegian Business School, the Open University of the Netherlands and the Stanford University HStar Institute. WLS is supported by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) and many other organizations and enterprises.
